What this means is that any individual step or riser should measure 7-3/4 inches tall or less. Consistency in step or riser height is also important. In the photo above, you can see that the steps are poured at a height of 5-1/2 inches, which means we needed to raise the entire structure enough to result in a 5-1/2 inch step height – not just meet the code requirement of 7-3/4 inches.
